SomnoVox Award

Somnosciences Québec

The SomnoVox Award is presented each year during the scientific conference of the Quebec Sleep Research Network, Somnosciences Québec. This $750 award recognizes and encourages student projects that promote knowledge mobilization and transfer.

The SomnoVox Award recognizes a student (bachelor's, master's, doctoral, or postdoctoral) whose significant contribution has promoted the transfer and advancement of knowledge in the field of sleep, circadian rhythms, and dreams. The submitted project must have taken place before February 1, 2026. Eligible projects include, but are not limited to:

  • Participation in a media interview;
  • Creation of visual material (infographics, video clips, etc.);
  • Organization of a knowledge transfer or mobilization event;
  • Etc.

Eligibility

  • The applicant must be enrolled full-time in an undergraduate, graduate, or postgraduate program, or be a postdoctoral fellow at a university institution in Quebec at the time the project took place.
  • The person submitting the application is supervised by a principal investigator that is affiliated with a managing institution in Quebec (according to FRQ rules), meets the criteria of the Fonds de recherche du Québec, and is a member of the Sleep Network.   • The project focuses on sleep, circadian rhythms, or dreams;
  • The project took place between April 1, 2024, and January 31, 2026.
    • The next edition of this award will cover projects taking place from February 1, 2026, to January 31, 2027.

Please note that the same person cannot receive this award more than once for the same activity.

How to submit an application

To submit an application for this award, you must complete the application form by clicking here.

Once you have completed the application form, you must send an application letter to: info@reseausommeil.ca. The application letter must be sent as a single PDF document (maximum 1 1/2 pages, excluding references; single-spaced, 2.5 cm margins, standard fonts, 12 points) and contain the following:

  • Team composition (if applicable): Last name, first name, primary affiliation, role, and career/study level of each team member;
  • Project description (maximum 1 page) ;
    • You may include a link to your project in the appendix. For projects involving the creation of visual material (e.g., infographics), you may also include the file in the appendix.
  • Description of the actual and/or potential impact of the project on its target audience and in the field of sleep, circadian rhythms, or dreams (maximum 1/2 page).

Evaluation criteria

In addition to eligibility, the following priorities will be considered when evaluating applications:

  • Clarity of the project description
  • Justification and relevance of the project
  • Actual or potential impact of the project on the transfer and appreciation of knowledge in the fields of sleep, circadian rhythms, and dreams

Timeline of the competition

  • December 15, 2025 : Launch of the competition
  • February 13, 2026 : Submission deadline
  • February 20, 2026 : Announcement of the winner
  • March 27, 2026 : Presentation of the winner at Somnosciences Québec 2026.

Commitment

The winner of the SomnoVox Award will be invited to present their project at the Sleep Network's scientific day, Somnosciences Québec 2026.
