Mini-retreat on artificial intelligence and sleep technologies
The Sleep Network invites you to the third edition of its Mini-retreat on artificial intelligence and sleep technologies (formerly known as the Mini-Retreat on Wearable Technologies For Sleep Monitoring), which will be held on Thursday, December 10, 2026, at the Agora at Mila – the Quebec Institute for Artificial Intelligence. This event is free, but registration is required. To register, please click on the “Register” button at the top left.
This dynamic event will give you the opportunity to discuss the latest innovations in artificial intelligence and sleep technology, featuring presentations by experts and students, interactive activities, a networking session, and much more! The third edition of the mini-retreat will bring together students, clinicians, researchers, as well as representatives from industry and funding agencies.
IMPORTANT Please note that the event will be held in English.
This event aims to :
• Explore advances in artificial intelligence as well as sleep and health technologies with international and emerging experts.
• Showcase the next generation of scientists through interactive student presentations.
• Promote collaboration between the fields of sleep, circadian rhythms, and dreaming, and the fields of artificial intelligence and technology.
Highlights of the event
Keynote lectures by renowned experts :
• Title to be announced - Dr Emmanuel Mignot, Standford University
• Sleep as a Biomarker Platform: How AI Turns Every Night of Sleep into Continuous, Noninvasive Insights into Disease, Drugs, and Health – Dr Dina Katabi, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)
• Learning the language of sleep with multi-modal AI (Virtual Conference) – Dr James Zhou, Standford University
Introductory workshops
Are you new to the field of sleep or to the field of artificial intelligence and databases? Don't worry—this mini-retreat is for you, too!
We will offer an introductory workshop on sleep as well as an introductory workshop on artificial intelligence and databases on the morning of the mini-retreat, before the opening remarks. These workshops are designed to introduce participants to one of these two fields so they can fully benefit from and acquire as much knowledge as possible from the mini-retreat. These workshops will take place simultaneously, so you will be asked to sign up for one of them when you register for the mini-retreat. You will be directed to your workshop upon arrival. Pastries and coffee will be available during the introductory workshops.
Networking and collaboration opportunities
• Network with other participants in the mini-retreat during breaks, lunch, and the closing reception.
• Take part in the “Meet an Expert” activity during lunch and talk with experts in sleep, circadian rhythms, and dreams, as well as experts in artificial intelligence and technology. You must indicate whether you wish to participate in this activity when you register for the mini-retreat. You will be contacted in the weeks leading up to the mini-retreat to be assigned to a discussion group.
• Learn about the completed and ongoing research projects of students in the Sleep Network during the student presentation sessions.
Call for oral presentations
Are you a student who would like to share your research project with experts and your peers? We invite you to submit an abstract of your project in response to our call for oral presentations.
During the mini-retreat, we will hold two sessions of student oral presentations. The student oral presentations will last between 7 and 10 minutes (including a question-and-answer period of approximately 2 minutes) and will focus on the fields of sleep, circadian rhythms, or dreams, and the fields of artificial intelligence or technology.
To apply for the call for oral presentations, click here.
